Illinois Turkey Hunting - Right Around the Corner
Gobble, Gobble. That's right spring is right around the corner and before you know it, turkey season will be here.
Last year was the first time Capitol Outdoors experienced a turkey hunt. Let's say, it was educational. However, with that experience behind us we're excited for our second turkey adventure.
You see, turkey hunting is not what you would consider our specialty. Waterfowl and fishing seasons take up a lot of our schedule, so turkey hunting is out of our comfort zone. Over the weekend we stumbled upon our turkey gear and pulled it out from storage.
Getting ready for whatever adventure you're about to encounter is half of the fun. Last year we sat in the ground blind, and we found that was a little over kill. So, this year we'll be putting our backs up against some trees. As we continue to go through our gear; we had 2 hen decoys, box call, several mouth calls and most importantly, quality camo that covers our face.
Over the next few months we'll be doing some scouting and online research to increase our odds of coming across a big ole' Jake. Stay tuned as we share in our adventure in harvesting an Illinois Turkey. It won't be easy but, it will be a memorable experience.
