Applications Available for Special Firearm Deer Hunt for Persons with Disabilities at Spoon River State Forest on Oct. 13-14


Deadline to apply via email is October 6


VICTORIA, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will host a firearm deer hunt for persons with disabilities on October 13 and 14 at Spoon River State Wildlife Area in Knox Co.

Prospective hunters may apply for the hunt by submitting an application via email to connie.canterbury@illinois.gov no later than October 6, 2018. The application is available at this link:

A total of 10 permits are available for the hunt (each permit valid for one designated hunting location at the site, to be assigned by site staff). If more than 10 hunters apply, a lottery drawing will be conducted. Successful applicants will be notified by return email and must purchase their permits for the hunt at the site office.

Spoon River State Wildlife Area is located at 1936 State Rt. 167, Victoria, IL 61485 (approximately seven miles south of Victoria). For more information on this special hunt for persons with disabilities, contact the site office at Jubilee College State Park at 309-446-3758.
