Bringing all that Gear to the Field // Getting Reading for the Season

Duck hunting is right around the corner in Illinois and we at Capitol Outdoors couldn't be happier. Below you will see some pictures about how and what we take to the blind. Many duck hunters brag about their trailer setup, but we’re bragging about how simple & universal our hunting kit is.

Capitol Outdoors has broken down our duck hunting into three different transportation arenas. Lite, Cart and Sled. Lite hunting is usually when we go with another group and don’t have to carry all of the usual gear. For example, If we were to go hunting with my brother and father we wouldn't need anything but our guns, and blind bag. That’s considered lite hunting. Capitol Outdoors will break down the contents of our blind bag for "lite hunting" and all of our setups with a later post.

The Cart.

The cart is our setup for long distance hunts. Some of the places we hunt, a mile walk is not out of the ordinary. The bin that carries our decoys allows the cart to float. This allows us to bring it both land and water mobility.

The Sled

The Sled is the easiest and most efficient ways to travel through the water with all of your gear. This set up allows you to focus on your next step rather than your gear.

Capitol Outdoors gear can be switched from lite hunt to a goose field hunt as easy as one, two, three. We’ve found that these three systems allow us to hunt anywhere with some or all of our gear with extreme mobility getting you in those small coves that nobody goes. At the parking lot all you’ll have to do is unstrap, add your blind bag and gun and go. Capitol Outdoors also carries other gear that most people don't, for example tripods, monopods and cameras. And we also hunt on public land so we need to pack up all our gear, decoys etc. every hunt.

These set ups are what works for us, they may not work for you. We just want to pass on the information we have learned along the way.

What do you use to carry your gear into the field?
