Day 12: Thankful for doing our yard work yesterday...

Today as I watch the wind blow and the leaves fall into our yard. I'm thankful that yesterday we took the time to clean our gutters only so that they could get filled up again :)

Well, tomorrow is another day and maybe we will just have to clean out the gutters one more time this year!

How is your winterizing going?

Today we are thankful to our veterans. Thankful for their courage in our time of need. Thankful for all that they give for this country and thankful for their unwavering commitment to the Red, White & Blue.

Day 10: Thankful for my health

After a long morning in the duck blind, well two days for that matter my body is sore! I feel it all over, the fact that I was trudging through muddy water, throwing decoys and holding my gun out of the mud for 5 plus hours takes a toll.

Tonight I can feel it and I am thankful for the pain. It is a good pain, the pain you get when you wake your body up and force it to move like it's never moved. It lets me know I am healthy enough to continue to enjoy the outdoors!

I'm thankful that I am healthy enough to get up each new day. Thankful to trudge those muddy waters to our spot in the woods and thankful that on clear mornings before sunrise I can stand out in the middle of our decoy spread and stare up at the stars!

Day 9: Thankful for the guys that pulled us out of the mud

Today was a great hunt; calm, peaceful and went off without a hitch. That is until the end.

We ended up getting blocked in by some other hunters and in order to get out we had to drive through some muddy water.

Being that we had just walked through some water about at the same area we didn't think it was that deep. Also Michael said, we have a Jeep it should be no problem!! Yeah, no problem to get stuck - and start sinking!!

Michael got out and started pushing to no avail, that baby was not going anywhere. We were going to have to wait for the guys with the truck parked next to us, who had blocked us in or call a tow truck. Well a tow truck is not happening in the middle of nowhere so we waited for the guys to come back from their hunt.

Thankfully they had tow chains and pulled us out of our muddy mess with ease! So a big shout out to them :)

Lil Jeep needs a cleaning, but is everything is great! Lesson learned.

Day 8: Thankful for Fridays that turn into long weekends.

Well it's Friday people, whoop whoop! And for some it's a holiday weekend. I am thankful that this weekend is going to give me two extra days off.

For me it means we can go hunting and I can actually feel like I get stuff done around the house. The time change has messed with my time management too. I still am trying to adjust, but it gets dark too early, which makes me want to sleep :)

This weekend is going to be great hunting weather and we are excited to get back out!!

Are you doing anything special this weekend?

Day 7: Thankful for my commute

It's not often you hear people say they love their commute to work, but in Central Illinois driving to work isn't so bad.

I'm thankful for my commute because I get to experience a new sunrise over the cornfields, watch the clouds over the farms and listen to the wind blow the fall leaves around.

Driving to work is peaceful, quiet and tranquil and I am thankful for that!!

How is your commute to work?

Day 6: Thankful for my Co-Workers

Today I am thankful for my "work family", that dysfunctional family we spend most of our Monday - Friday with!!

Yesterday was a long day in our office and they always seem to make the day go by... Maybe because most of the time I am laughing at the crazy things they do, the dancing, the singing, the funny sayings. No matter what a new day brings something unique and different from this group of girls.

We may not have it all together and may not get along all the time (there are days when you know, stay away from her) but I know when I go to work whether it's a regular 8 hour day or a longer one I will laugh at least once.

It's my goal to make work fun, try and be my silly self no matter what. So, to my girls at work, remember I am just being snapalicious, smile and laugh it off with me and thanks for being you!!

Do you enjoy your co-workers?

Day 4: Thankful for Laughter

It's Monday Morning and everyone needs to laugh it off. Today I am thankful for Laughter!!!  We all need to laugh a little more.  Sometimes things are taken way too seriously.  I like to be silly, laugh and have fun most of the time.  Don't get me wrong I am one of the most hardworking, serious, controlled people out there; but you have to learn how to let things go and learn how to laugh.

I learned how to laugh when I met Michael.  He is my Mr. Personality and he opened me to a better, happier, more funfilled world!!   I learn how to laugh bigger and be sillier every day because of him.

Life isn't always roses and gumdrops, but if you can laugh everyday things don't seem so bad.
Especially if you can laugh at each other, life is even better.
This photo makes me laugh :)

Monday Mornings are made better by singing and dancing on the way to work and laughing so hard my eyes water and makeup runs down my face.
Love Coffee!!!!

So today make someone laugh, laugh at yourself, smile and have fun NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Day 5: Thankful for being a Huntress

Thankful for being a Huntress!  When  I moved to Illinois 6 years ago, I would never have thought I would be hunting.  As I learned more about Conservation and Hunting from Michael and saw the passion he had for it I wanted to learn more about it!

I am thankful that on that day when I turned to Michael and asked if I could go hunting with him, he looked at me as an equal and gave me the chance to enter his sport.

I am thankful for his patience as each weekend I learn more and more and ask more and more questions.

And I am thankful for each new adventure I go on because I enjoy the outdoors.

I want to get more women involved in the outdoors because frankly standing at a duck blind drawing being the only woman is getting kind of lonely!!!

Are there any women out there who have just started hunting or would like to start? Tell me about in the comments below.

Day 3: Thankful for Our First Home

The ups and downs, struggles and stress that went into trying to achieve the one goal of buying our first house was enormous.  Things changed throughout the process, we had to stay in our apartment one year longer, than another year longer than we wanted, but we finally achieved our goal and man does it feel good.

We are thankful that we decided to hold off when we did, thankful for how we are proceeding in our life goals and thankful for the new roof we have over our head.

It feels good this Sunday to sit back relax and enjoy our home.  Living in this home has made us happier, our attitudes have changed since not living in that stuffy apartment. Being able to have more space to grow as a couple and express ourselves feels great!  The community that we live in is perfect for our future.

I find new things to love about our house everyday.  I know that our house is new to us and that is expected, but try to fall in love with your house all over again. What are some ways you think you could do that?

Day 2: Coffee Maker Timer

MMM… the alarm goes off and I step into my kitchen to the smell of coffee.  I love my coffee maker with the automatic timer. That is what I am thankful for today.  It’s the little things that we take for granted. It makes my life so much simpler.  Plus, who doesn’t love to wake up to the smell of fresh coffee brewing! Especially on those early morning days before a hunt when you stumble out of bed and get into your gear to face the cold weather.

I can tell you I am a coffee addict.  Have to start my day with a cup of coffee. Literally, get out of bed, head to the coffee maker, pour my coffee and stand on the porch while Reagan runs around in the yard!

There is nothing like that: standing on my front porch with a cup of coffee.  The freedom of being able to start my day, the way that I want.

Do you start your day with something special?

Day 1: We are Thankful for our Labrador

Reagan: Our Labrador

I am thankful for our Lab Reagan!  What life would be like if we didn’t have him, I couldn’t even imagine.  He is my little furry friend, true companion, faithful listener, snuggle buddy and #1 hunting partner!

I know I can always count on him for my morning kisses, a happy greeting at the door when we get home from work, and that look he gives you when he wants to play. And  I still can’t get over when he plants his cute puppy face on my lap when he wants me to pat him!
He loves to retrieve and will find that bird no matter what.  A true hunting companion.
He is our Best Friend!

He is the Best Dog we could ask for!
We Love him!

Do you have a pet that is your best bud, hunting companion and snuggle bug?? Comment and tell me about it below!

November "What are you thankful for?" Challenge

It’s November First and as November Rolls around our minds slowly drift away from Halloween candy to Turkey and Stuffing.  I know it is a holiday, celebrated by lots of food and football, that is still a month away; one where families gather and traditions are shared.

However, Thanksgiving is more than just a day about football and eating.  It’s about striving for being thankful for the family and friends that make your holiday special. A time to truly appreciate the things in your life that you take for granted.

One of the ways, I am going to celebrate the month of November is the celebrate each day by expressing my appreciation for something in my life.  It can be something small, something that makes your morning brighter; to someone you love, that makes your life more complete.

If you would like to participate in the November “What are you Thankful for?” Challenge Link-up below.

All you will have to do is write a daily post about something you are thankful for. Let's share our appreciation with others and be thankful for what we have!

Enjoying the Outdoors // Would you unplug for a weekend?

So, this is my last day to my long four day weekend and I decided at the beginning that I was going to take a break from my computer and cellphone.  It just feels like I am constantly looking at my cellphone.  Life is going to fly by and I want to be able to enjoy things.

Let me tell you... It felt really good to take some time to actually enjoy the things I was doing and not constantly be on my phone. And, hey I didn't miss a thing!
